KNUST and Ministry of Health Stakeholders’ Meeting

KNUST and MoH MOU

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the Ministry of Health, Ghana held a Stakeholders’ meeting with Principals from affiliated institutions and Steering committee on 18th August 2022 at the College of Health Sciences Board Room.

Professor Christian Agyare, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences (CHS) stated in his remarks that the memorandum of understanding between KNUST and the Ministry of Health is keen on the capacity building of students and staff. “As part of our capacity building, Dr Richard Bruce Lamptey, the Deputy Librarian and country coordinator of Reasearch4Life will be holding a training workshop for librarians in affiliate institutions”, he added. Professor Agyare also revealed that plans are being put in place for the introduction of online examinations for students in affiliate health institutions. He also stated that there will be no more affiliation fees rather registration and facility user fees will be instated.

The Chairman of the Steering Committee, Alhaji Inua Yusuf gave an overview of the Steering Committee and its sub-committees achievements since its inauguration. The sub-committees were inaugurated in December 2021 to tackle identified actionable areas to support the mandate of the steering committee. The sub-committees are Programme and Academic Affairs, Fees and changes, Capacity Building, Monitoring and Evaluation committees.

Professor Victoria Bam, the Head of Nursing Department, KNUST presented on recruitment of applicants for the various programmes, issues on quality assurance and strategies to increase awareness of the programme offered.

The stakeholders’ meeting climaxed with an open forum where the principals and representatives of affiliate institutions asked questions and made suggestions on how to improve the relations between KNUST and its mentoring institutions.
