The Department of Medical Imaging at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology College of Health Sciences has organised a workshop to strengthen clinical teaching and supervision practices among Clinical Instructors and enhance the training of medical imaging students.
The workshop, themed “Building Clinical Competence in Medical Imaging Students,” was held at Room 103 of the School of Nursing and Midwifery Building, KNUST, and brought together Clinical Instructors involved in the practical training of students in various clinical settings.

The session was moderated by Dr. Andrew Donkor, Head of the Department of Medical Imaging, who underscored the critical role Clinical Instructors play in shaping students’ practical skills, professional behaviour and clinical decision-making.
According to the Department, the workshop formed part of efforts to improve the quality of clinical education through structured supervision, competency-based training and effective mentorship.
Participants explored effective methods for teaching and mentoring students in clinical environments, while discussions also focused on structured approaches to competency-based clinical education.

A key session on “Student Evaluation and Feedback Techniques,” presented by Mr. Benedict Agyei, focused on practical methods for evaluating students’ clinical performance and delivering constructive feedback to support their professional growth and improve learning outcomes.
Other discussions addressed strategies for bridging the theory-practice gap and tackling common challenges encountered during clinical supervision.
The workshop further sought to enhance the capacity of Clinical Instructors in providing effective student assessments and fostering supportive learning environments for students during clinical placement.
Organisers expressed appreciation to participants for their commitment to supporting quality clinical training and advancing excellence in medical imaging education at KNUST.
