Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Mindray and MedPoint Solutions to collaborate with the Department of Medical Imaging at the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences to provide Ultra-sound equipment worth $63000 for the purpose of hands-on training of students.
The MOU which was signed on the 11th of October 2022 has enabled the Department of Medical Imaging to interact with the industry and provide an avenue for Mindray to provide technical support, practical training and introduce improved modern equipment to the Department.
Mindray is a healthcare technology company with 30 years of unmatched innovation that covers a broad spectrum of the medical industry. They offer integrated solutions that adapt to different departments to help healthcare providers boost efficiency and optimize management. Their products are marketed and sold in Ghana by MedPoint Solutions.
Professor Christian Agyare, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences (CHS), KNUST described the MOU as a timely initiative and a helpful venture for the parties involved. He stated that KNUST and CHS are committed and will put in efforts to fuel the collaboration. Professor Agyare also appealed that the faculty should have exposure to the operation of the equipment from Mindray; “this will give the lecturers the practical experience to teach students effectively”, he added.
Clifford Kekeshie, the managing director of MedPoint Solutions thanked the Provost for the warm reception and assured them that they will put in maximum efforts towards the MOU. He also noted that the MOU is a five-year agreement and they intend to bring in more equipment for the training of students.
