MPHIL HAEMATOLOGY

Master of Philosophy in Haematology aims at equipping individuals with the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to function at more advanced levels in the field of Haematology.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENT

First or Second Class (Upper Division) degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or Biomedical Laboratory Science, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences and MB.Ch.B or similar qualifications from a recognized university. Holders of Second Class (Lower Division) degrees must have at least two years post qualification experience in the relevant area.

 

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Students will require a minimum of 55% cumulative weighted average to graduate with a Master of Philosophy in Haematology. They shall additionally be required to undertake a directed research culminating in a thesis that would be defended at an oral examination scheduled for that purpose. The thesis should essentially address the complexities of issues that affect the country and/or sub-region. Students will additionally be encouraged to publish at least one article in a peer-reviewed journal.

 

CAREER PROSPECTS

Graduates of this course will be in high demand by the College of Health Sciences, KNUST, the Ministry of Health, the Ghana Health Services and other training Institutions. In addition, the programme will provide an excellent background for a PhD in Haematology.
