History

ahs visionThe Department of Nursing was established in the year 2002. Its initial  students were enrolled in the year 2003. With the increasing diversity in health issues and provision of heath care, the horizon of the nurse has expanded and the body of knowledge pertinent to the different disciplines is increasing. This fact, coupled with the reliance of the other health team members on the Nurse to manage patients efficiently, made it imperative for the establishment of the Nursing Department. Furthermore the training of graduate nurses was part of the educational reforms in Ghana hence the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology worked with other stakeholders in health to start

the Bachelor of Science (Nursing) programme.

The Department started with the General nursing programme and a total of forty (40) students were initially enrolled in the program. Currently, the Department has a growing student population of six

hundred and thirty-one (631) students.
