The mission of the programme is to provide holistic education, teaching, and research to prepare students for entry-level practice in Medical Imaging such as Radiography and Sonography. Students will be educated to deliver patient-centred care as competent members of an interdisciplinary team with emphasis on evidence-based Medical Imaging practice and quality improvement approaches. Students will have hands-on experience with the latest equipment under the supervision of experienced professionals
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
An applicant obtaining a minimum of ‘Credit’ in the THREE Core Subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science) plus credits in THREE Elective Subjects: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics.
‘A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS
An applicant obtaining a minimum of Credit in at least FIVE ‘O’ Level Subjects including English Language and Mathematics or equivalent, plus THREE passes at the ‘A’ Level in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics.
MATURE APPLICANTS
Applicants should be at least 25 years at the time of submitting the application, and possess:
EITHER
FIVE credits or better at the ‘O’ Level, including English Language and Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and physics
OR
WASSCE/SSSCE credit or better in THREE Core Subjects (English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science) plus credits in THREE relevant Elective Subjects: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
In order to graduate, a student will be required to have completed and passed the prescribed number of credit hours in each category of course modules for the programme.
- Have satisfied any other requirement of the Department, Faculty, and College Board.
The class of degree for undergraduate programme shall be determined by the following Cumulative Weighted Averages:
First Class - 70 or above
Second Class (Upper Division) - 60-69.99
Second Class (Lower Division) - 50-59.99
CAREER PROSPECTS
Employment prospects for Medical Imaging graduates are expected to be available in both the public and private sectors. It is anticipated that this demand will continue for a long time, especially as it becomes more known that KNUST is graduating high calibre Medical Imaging graduates where none with this level of training have previously existed. Employment opportunities are available in many different types of facilities, including:

- Medical Practitioner’s Offices
- Sales representatives for equipment manufacturers
- Imaging Applications Specialist for manufacturing companies
- Education and Research Institutions
